Choctaw's Malone, Bowman sign with Pearl River
The area’s top post tandem is going to continue playing together in college.
Choctawhatchee standouts Branita Malone and Francheska Bowman recently signed with Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Miss.
“I hate to lose them, but I’m glad they’re getting off to college,” Choctaw coach Don Brown said.
Malone was named Daily News big school Player of the Year after averaging 17 points and 8 rebounds for the 18-5 Indians. She scored 34 points in a victory over archrival Fort Walton Beach and was also named MVP of the Freedom All-Star Classic.
Bowman was a first-team All-Area selection after averaging approximately 11 points and 8 rebounds. She also led the team with 55 blocks even after missing several games due to injury.
