Former Indian Weber receives preseason football honors

Jon Weber is expected to provide the foundation for the Samford football team's offensive line this season.

That was certainly made clear when SouthernPigskin.com writer Josh Buchanan, a leading authority on the Southern Conference, ranked the former Choctawhatchee standout as the SoCon's top center.

Weber, who will be a senior this season, also was selected by Buchanan as the 20th best player in the conference.

The 6-foot-4, 306-pound Weber was a second-team all-conference selection last season. He started all 11 games for Samford, which finished the season 6-5, the Bulldogs' first winning season since 2003.
