Comments 0 | Recommend 0County rivals Niceville and Crestview split their tennis matche on Friday with the Eagles’ boys edging the Bulldogs 4-3, while on the girls’ side Crestview cruised in a 6- 1 win.
Moya Moore, Jackie Hanners, Brooklyn Howard and Sydney Pinkert all registered wins in singles play for the Bulldogs (4-3). Crestview then swept the doubles portion of the match. Monique Kessler notched a singles win for Niceville.
On the boys’ side, Stephen Farrell, Alex Lin and Eric Schievienin all won for the Eagles in singles’ play while John Seth Sammons and Mitch Petoskey notched wins for the Bulldogs (3-4). Farrell and Shievinan teamed in doubles play to seal the win.
Girls: Crestview won 6-1

Baseball
Baker 18, PCA 1: Will Lock followed Anthony Heath’s strong outing the night before by striking out 11 and only allowing two hits as the Gators coasted to the District 1-2A victory.
Lock also went 2-for-3 with an RBI while Christian Mainor was 2-for-3 with two runs, Dylan Kersey was 2-for-4 with three runs and Colton Henry was 2-for-4 with a triple, three runs and four RBIs.
Baker plays host to South Walton on Monday.

Track and field
Both the Crestview and Choctawhatchee boys and girls teams placed inside the top 10 at Friday’s Patriot Invitational at Pace.
Crestview’s Aaron Nelson paced a fifth-place finish by the boys’ team by winning the 100-meter run while the Bulldogs’ 4x100 relay team of Nelson, Chris Pickett, A.J. Johnson and Darius Madison took second place.
Crestview’s girls’ team finished ninth in the team standings. Lauren Day placed second in the 3200 as did the Bulldogs’ 4x100 relay team of Jodi Montalvo, Candice Green, Asten Lopez and Katie Cook.
Crestview coach Ernie Martin also cited strong showings by Spencer Anderson, Donquel Dorsey and Dominique Thomas.
Choctawhatchee also competed in the event, with its girls placing sixth and the boys seventh.
Brittany Brown won the long jump (17-6) while Brooke McSheehy won the 1600 for the Indians. Sarah Fraiser, meanwhile, earned a third-place finish in the 3200 with a time of 13:11.19. Choctaw’s boys were paced by Hakeem Tarpley and Alec Herrera, the latter who finished third in the 3200 with a time of 10:26.
