Brianna DeGennaro handcuffed Baker to just one hit as the Fort Walton Beach softball team cruised past the Gators, 14-1 in five innings on Friday.

Jennifer Phillips went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs while Lauren Correia went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a homerun. Rachel Ryan was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

DeGennaro struck out five on the night.

Danni Mayhair’s double stood as the Gators’ lone hit.

Fort Walton Beach (6-2) hosts Tate on Thursday. Baker (4-1) hosts Ponce de Leon on Monday.

l Laurel Hill 21, Poplar Springs 1: Kasey Harrison notched a no-hitter and the Hoboes pounded Poplar Springs in their District 1-A opener.

Jessica Gortman went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, two runs scored and a double and Nichole Bailey went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a double. Laurel Hill (2-0, 1-0) travels to Rocky Bayou Christian on Tuesday.

l Paxton 16, Bethlehm 8: Chantel McCormick went 3-for-4, Kristyn Geiselman went 2-for-2 and Lauren Pool finished the night 2-for-3 as Paxton improved to 3-0 in District 1-A play.

l Choctawhatchee 9, Pensacola 2: Zach Morgan drove in a pair of runs and Ben Hamblton went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored as the Indians evened their record in District 1-4A at 2-2 on the season.

Tanner Black went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Choctaw (2-4) which hosts Fort Walton Beach on Thursday.

l South Walton 9, Graceville 8 : Johnathan Duncan came up with a timely two-run double in the top of the fifth to help South Walton erase a two-run deficit and move to 3-1 in District 2-2A.

Duncan finished the night 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Alex Astin connected for a pair of home runs, Dylan Smith had a home run and three runs batted in and Jansen Infinger went 2-for-4 With an RBI.

South Walton (6-2) hosts Cottondale on Monday.

l Baker 6, Jay 5 (7 innings): Christian Mainor doubled and later came around the score the winning run on a hit by Anthony Heath as the Gators defeated Jay for the first time in five years.

Alston Derrick and Dakota Josey each tallied hits as the Gators (3-4, 1-0 District 1-2A) handed the Royals their first district loss in three seasons. Baker hosts Ponce de Leon on Monday at 4 p.m.
