Shelby Watson struck out 14 and the South Walton softball team coasted to a 9-1 victory over Cottondale in District 2-2A action on Wednesday.
The Seahawks (5-1), who improved to 3-0 in district play, had six hits and six different players picked them up. Watson delivered the big blow with a three-run triple.
South Walton plays host tonight to Graceville.

Mosley 8, Fort Walton Beach 3: Briana DeGennaro only allowed five hits Wednesday, but the Vikings’ defense committed four errors and the offense only tallied three hits in the District 2-5A game.
Lauren Correia was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Jennifer Phillips added a hit for the Vikings (5-2, 1-2), who play Friday at Baker.

Baseball
Crestview 7, Mosley 0: Sam Bass tossed a gem on Wednesday in the Bulldogs’ District 2-5A opener, allowing a single hit in six innings while notching the win.
Nick Brown and Trevor Carnahan both had two hits for Crestview (4-1, 1-0), while Tyler Davis smacked a three-run double.
Crestview plays host Friday to Niceville.

Boys weightlifting
Fort Walton Beach 53, Niceville 27, Choctawhatchee 27: The Vikings won five weight classes in getting the best of their two county rivals.
Garnering top honors for the Vikings were Cody Sprouse (119-pound class, lifted 250 pounds), Seth Bowling (129, 405), Tommy Bowling (169, 560), Carl Blanco (219, 620) and Loy Williams (238, 640).
Niceville collected first places from David Jones (139, 490) and Charles Phillips (Heavyweight, 660).
Notching victories for Choctaw were Cedric Bridgewater (154, 505), Charlie Lott (183, 625) and Paul Spikes (199, 620).
South Walton 53, Walton 39, Rocky Bayou Christian 27, Vernon 26: The Seahawks won three different weight classes and every lifter accumulated points to help earn the win.
Mike Doyle (139-pound class, lifted 340 pounds), Quinston Morris (219, 515) and Chris Manzanares (238, 480) each tallied first places for South Walton.
Marrion Holmes hoisted up 600 pounds in the bench press and clean-and-jerk to highlight the Braves’ performance, while James Waldron (183, 535) and Eddie Owens (199) tallied wins for the Knights.
Northview 45, Baker 41: The Gators won four weight classes but came up just shy of Northview.
Winning for Baker were Jordain Sanguyo (119-pound class, lifted 300 pounds), Dakota Hooper (183, 505), Cory Harper (199, 520) and Mason Doggette (238, 495).
Tennis
The Niceville girls tennis team routed Pine Forest 7-0, while the Eagles’ boys pulled out a tight 4-3 win on Wednesday.
Andrea Kovacs, Ashton Huff, Bellina LeMoel, Christy Allen and Monique Kessler each won in singles play, while Emily Day and Jessica Markowski and Maria Bosch and Jessica Purvis won in doubles action.
Stephen Farrell, Eric Shievinan, Hunter Eager and Jack Duchock all won in singles action on the boys side for the Eagles.
