Fort Walton Beach rode a strong showing in the relay competitions on the boys' side to come away with a team win at the Viking Relays, edging Niceville 167-134, while the Eagles distanced themselves from the field to earn the victory on girls' side.

Emily Sager highlighted the day for the Eagles in individual competitions, winning the triple jump (33-05) and finishing second in the long jump (16-01) while the Vikings received first-place individual finishes from Josh Storbeck (pole vault), Rashad Smith (shot put) and Deiontrez Mount (110 hurdles).

Choctawhatchee's Hakeem Tarpley won the boys' two-mile run (8:57) while Niceville's Lauren Nelson (12:17) won the event on the girls' side while teammate Kaitlen Davis took home top honors in the discus with a throw of 104 feet, 7 inches. Choctaw's Joy Jones (36 feet, 3 ½ inches) won the shot put.

Navarre received first-place finishes from Chelsea Chandler (pole vault) and Ezra Robinson (high jump).

l Freeport 11, University Christian 1: Cole Weeks allowed one unearned run and scattered five hits as Freeport (5-4) routed University Christian in five innings. Coty Porter, Nathan Hendrickson and Justin Farmer each recorded multiple hits in the win.

Freeport travels to Paxton on Tuesday.

l South Walton 6, University Christian 3: David Bazylak drove in a pair of runs to help South Walton edge University Christian and win its third-straight game on Friday. Jarred Bump also drove in a run for the Seahawks (5-7), who return to action on Monday with a game against Glenwood (Tenn.) at Northwest Florida State College.

Tennis

Fort Walton Beach dropped both its matches against Leon as the girls fell 6-1 and the boys on the wrong end of a 5-2 score.

Drew Morrison and Ari Palanjian recorded the lone wins for the Vikings' boys in singles play while Cecily Kersey, Fort Walton Beach's No. 1 on the girls' side, also won in singles.

Fort Walton Beach hosts Niceville on Wednesday.

Choctawhatchee received wins from its No. 1 and No. 5 boys but could not overcome a strong day from Lincoln as the Indians (2-4) dropped its match with its District 2-3A foe, 4-3 before falling in the girls' competition 5-2.

Zack Coker defeated Anthony Siriani 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 in a matchup of No. 1s while Brandon Jowers battled Parker Jernigan to a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 5 position. The duo of Jordan Coker and Will Boyt defeated Lincoln's Daniel Morton and Mitchell White in the No. 2 doubles pairing but it was not enough for the team win.

On the girls' side, Choctaw's Sandra Pattison and Kingon Walker each won their respective singles matches.

Choctaw returns to action Tuesday against Niceville.
