ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Rachael Klinger, Niceville
Eagles’ senior earned first-place finishes in the 100 meter hurdles, high jump and 4x100 relay as Niceville’s girls finished second at the Max Bruner Invitational. Klinger’s 14.72 in the 100-meter hurdles broke the school record of 15.27.
Track and field
Kadijah Mount, Fort Walton Beach: Sophomore placed second in the 100 hurdles with a school-record time of 15.90, third in the long jump and 300 hurdles and ran on the first-place 4x400 relay team at the Max Bruner Invitational.
Tiffany Snider, South Walton: Senior broke the school record in the shot put with a winning throw of 34-10 at the Arnold quad meet. Snider also tied the school record in the discus with a winning throw of 98-2.
Charlie Tidwell, Niceville: Tidwell won both the shot put and the discus events for the Eagles at the Max Bruner Invitational.
Holly Stanton, Fort Walton Beach: Senior won both the mile (5:35) and two-mile (12:14) events at the Max Bruner Invitational and also anchored the first-place 4x800 relay team.
D.J. Striedel, South Walton: Senior led South Walton to a team victory at the Arnold quad meet with first-place finishes in the pole vault (12 feet) and triple jump (39-4.5) and ran on the third-place 4x400 relay.
Bobby Kressin, Niceville: Placed first in the high jump and 300 hurdles for Niceville at theMax Bruner Invitational.
Sarah deVaux, Fort Walton Beach: Vikings junior won the 800 with a time of 2.29 and placed second in the mile (5:38) and was on the first-place 4x800 relay team.
Emily Sager, Niceville: Sager won the triple jump and placed second in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles while also garnering a fourth-place finish in the long jump at the Max Bruner Invitational.
Brittany Crittenden, South Walton: Sophomore won the 100 hurdles (15.67) and the 200 (26.32) while also placing second in the long jump and 4x400 relay at the Arnold quad meet.
Deiontrez Mount, Fort Walton Beach: Mount won the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.00 to break his own school record and also placed third in the long jump and ran on the Vikings’ winning 4x100 relay.
Chris Manazares, South Walton: Junior took first in the shot put (39-3.5) and discus (104-3) at the Arnold quad meet.
Julianne Gaubron, Niceville: Finished second in the 200 and third in the 100 and shot put, and also ran the third leg of Niceville’s first-place 4x100 relay team at the Max Bruner Invitational.
Stephen Haye, Fort Walton Beach: Ran the first leg of the Vikings’ winning 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay teams, won the 200 and placed third in the long jump at the Max Bruner Invitational.
Jake Dearmon, Fort Walton Beach: Vikings’ junior won the mile race with a time of 4:41 and also ran on the first-place 4x800 relay team and finished fifth in the 800.
Tristan LaNasa, South Walton: Junior won the 800 with a personal-best time of 2:11.15 while also running on the second-place 4x800 relay and third-place 4x400 relay.
Baseball
Mitchell Peterson, South Walton: Junior went 4-for-7 at the plate with five runs scored in three games for the Seahawks. Peterson also pitched 8 1/3 innings and allowed just six hits and one earned run while registering 10 strikeouts to one walk to move to 4-1 on the season.
Jansen Infinger, South Walton: Seahawks’ junior went 5-for-10 with three RBIs and four runs scored in three games.
Weightlifting
Loy Williams, Fort Walton Beach: Vikings’ senior won the 238-pound weight class at the Niceville meet with a combined lift of 640 pounds, which included a meet-best 315 pound lift in the clean-and-jerk.
Carl Blanco, Fort Walton Beach: Senior won the 219-pound division at the Niceville meet by lifting a combined 620 pounds – 350 of which came on the bench press.
Dakota Davis, Fort Walton Beach: Vikings’ heavyweight placed third at the Niceville meet by lifting 555 pounds, a total that bested his previous high-water mark by 40 pounds.
Chris Bauduin, Fort Walton Beach: Freshman combined to lift 325 pounds to finish second at the Niceville meet.
