Staff Reports

Choctawhatchee's gamble in the second overtime fell just shy, and the Indians dropped their third straight game with a 49-48 loss to Milton on Friday.

Down 49-42, Choctaw (2-3) went for two after David Weber scored on a short run. After Milton used a timeout in an attempt to ice Choctaw kicker Dillon Drake, the Indians instead decided to go for the win. Weber's pass was broken up, however, giving the Panthers (2-3) the win.

Jackie Bush scored for Choctaw in the first overtime on a 3-yard run.

The Indians got out to a huge advantage in the first period, scoring three times. Weber connected with Devontee Lawson on a 15-yard touchdown pass and also had a 22-yarder to Justin Savage. Bush capped the early outburst with a 53-yard run to the end zone.

But Milton answered the call, scoring four unanswered touchdowns in the second period to jump ahead 28-21 at the break.

In the third period, Choctaw tied it on an 8-yard run by Freddie Gray. The Indians then went ahead as they blocked a punt and Alec Schubele returned the ball 38 yards for the score.

But Milton rallied again, scoring with around 8 minutes left to tie the game and set the stage for the overtime finish.
