CRESTVIEW – In what has become typical District 2-6A fashion, Choctawhatchee and Crestview locked horns in another nail biter before a packed house at Jack Foster Stadium on Friday.

It took a full 48 minutes, but in the end it was the Indians coming out on top 20-14.
Choctaw’s Cedric Bridgewater returned a Dakota Dean fumble 26 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter and Skyler Feckner kicked a pair of field goals to lift the Indians (4-2, 2-1) to the win.
It was fitting that Bridgewater scored a defensive touchdown in a game where the respective defenses had a lot of bend, but not much break throughout the night.
There were a couple of defensive lapses, and given the opportunity, both teams proved that they could score, but those scoring opportunities were few and far between.
The Indians jumped in front in the first quarter on a 25-yard touchdown run around right end by Therion Robinson. Robinson showed some nifty footwork in avoiding several would-be tacklers on his way to the end zone.
Robinson’s run capped a 10-play, 93-yard drive. Fittingly, Robinson was the workhorse on the drive carrying the ball four times for 61 yards.
The teams traded possessions before the Bulldogs (3-4, 1-1) finally got on the scoreboard early in the second quarter.
Crestview’s score came as Dean hit Geo Hillsman on a bubble screen that covered 68 yards for the score.
Although both teams threatened, neither team was able to score again in the first half.
Things swung in Choctaw’s favor when Dean fumbled and Bridgewater scored on Crestview’s first play from scrimmage of the third quarter.
Bridgewater’s touchdown was Choctaw’s last of the game, but Feckner was just getting his strong right leg warmed up.
A 20-yard Feckner field goal with 7:06 left in the game put the Indians up 17-7.
On the ensuing Bulldog drive Crestview went 70 yards for a touchdown to pull to within three points.
Dean hit big passes of 20 yards to Justin Rebholz and 27 yards to Matt Hutchison to move the Bulldogs deep into Indian territory.
Micah Reed picked up the score from a yard out with 4:52 left in the game.
Choctaw was able to milk the clock as it drove downfield for the insurance field goal.
Josh LeMay, who led the Indians with 118 yards rushing on 23 carries, shared carries with Robinson, and quarterback Luke Clark added a big run for a first down to extend the drive and set up the Feckner field goal.
With 29 seconds showing on the clock Feckner split the uprights from 27 yards out to seal the Indian win.
