Niceville dominates Choctaw in 49-0 victory (with PHOTOS, VIDEO)
Comments 0 | Recommend 0NICEVILLE — The Niceville football team did not score on either of its first two offensive series Friday night.
As it turned out, those two possessions were the only blemishes on an otherwise gleaming performance.
Niceville dominated rival Choctawhatchee in a 49-0 drubbing that further showcased its offensive prowess and at the same time extended the Eagles’ winning streak over the Indians to five straight seasons.

Things appeared to be headed in favor of Choctaw (0-2) early, as Niceville, ranked second in Class 4A, fumbled on its initial snap from scrimmage, giving the Indians the ball at the Eagles’ 34-yard line.
But one week after coughing up three turnovers in four red-zone attempts in a loss at Pensacola Catholic, Choctaw once again became its own worst enemy, as a penalty caused the drive to stall. Making matters worse, Dillon Drake’s ensuing 32-yard field goal try missed its mark.
After missing on each of his first two pass attempts, Niceville’s newly-minted starter at quarterback, Kyle McDorman, helped the Eagles offense find its rhythm on its third possession, connecting with receiver Kody Williams for a 49-yard touchdown at the 5:18 mark in the first quarter.
Niceville’s next possession was capped by another McDorman touchdown pass, this one to tight end Stefano Schutte, who was left wide open in the back of the end zone when the Choctaw defense bit on a play fake to Eagles running back Roy Finch.
It was Finch that provided the highlight of the night to open the second quarter.
Finch took what looked to be a run-of-the-mill screen pass from McDorman, broke free from one Choctaw defender, cut back against the grain and burst down the home sideline for a 73-yard touchdown to give Niceville a 21-0 lead.
McDorman completed his final touchdown pass of the night with 2:32 left before the half, when he hit Aaron Moore for a 12-yard score to punctuate a one-sided opening half.
McDorman ended the night 6-of-9 passing for 232 yards and four touchdowns. Finch totaled 250 all-purpose yards, while Williams hauled in three passes for 105 yards and two scores.
Choctaw, on the other hand, never got on track, as the Indians were outgained by Niceville, 460-190.
Receiver Justin Savage led the Indians with 55 yards on seven receptions, while sophomore quarterback Luke Clark ended the night 15-of-25 passing for 99 yards.
