Staff Reports

Josh Storbeck netted two goals and Austin Mulrain and Caise Vickery added one apiece as the Fort Walton Beach boys soccer team defeated Crestview 4-0 on Monday in District 1-5A action.

Destin Deariso and Rafeal Quinton had assists for the Vikings (6-1, 6-0), while keeper Josh Lawless had 12 saves and A.J. Newberry was cited for his defense.

Fort Walton Beach plays host to Navarre today, while Crestview plays host to Choctawhatchee on Friday.

 

Girls basketball

l South Walton 57, Baker 32: The South Walton girls basketball team used a strong second half to defeat area rival Baker.

Sadie Hussein had 14 points for the Seahawks (5-1), who held Baker (2-2) to 12 points after halftime while scoring 33.

Carly Barton scored 11 points and Courtney Fountain had nine for Baker, which won the JV game 24-19 and hosts Pensacola Catholic at 6 tonight.

South Walton, which got nine points apiece from Jamie Delaney and Aracely Garcia, plays at 5 p.m. Thursday at Wewahitchka.

l Cavalry Christian 50, Laurel Hill 48: Rochelle Neau pumped in a game-high 26 points, including two free throws in the fourth quarter that were the decisive points.

Krystina Pipersburg added 18 points for Calvary Christian (2-2), which trailed by seven after the first quarter before making its comeback.

Laurel Hill plays today at Freeport while Ponce de Leon plays Thursday at S.L. Jones.
